it very interesting that the first public sermon preached by our Lord Jesus Christ, and particularly among devout religious
folks, was a message on deliverance. Hear the words of our Lord from Luke 4:18:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he
hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the
captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.”
This verse of Scripture accurately describes the purpose of Jesus the Messiah and was prophesied
by Isaiah the Prophet. Isaiah said this concerning Jesus:
“The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because
the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim
liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound” (Isaiah 61:1).
This is what Jesus came to do! Consequently, all that
our Lord ever did after He made this profound declaration at the onset of His ministry – was to set the captives free!
My pastor, the late Rev. Wilson Rampersad (affectionately
called Brother Wilson), had not only
preached what Jesus taught, but also practiced what Jesus did – He delivered the captives!
Under Brother Wilson’s ministry, I personally
saw the ministry of deliverance in full force. The spiritually oppressed, emotionally depressed, and demon possessed were
all set free. But there was something that disturbed me as I attended his usually
packed-out church meetings. I observed that the majority of people that filled the prayer lines for deliverance were –
Christians, and in most cases many of them manifested some kind of demonic trait which required deliverance. I could not understand how and why this was happening to “believers.”
Nevertheless, as a result of my close affiliation
with this anointed man of God and his ministry, I received an impartation of gifts from the Holy Spirit that equipped me for
Now after several years of hands-on experiences, and
a sound biblical understanding of the Deliverance Ministry, I eventually discovered
the answers to how and why believers
and unbelievers alike are affected by evil spirits. And not to mention, the answer to one of the most asked questions: “Why do evil things happen to God’s people?” We will explore this
and other related questions throughout this enlightening book!
I believe that everybody needs deliverance from something! And although it is an irrefutable fact that Christ’s
death on the Cross provided redemption from the “curse of the Law,” the truth is – it did not extricate us from the “consequences of the curse.”
This profound revelation truly helps us to understand why destiny doors are locked for so many believers.
Why do believers suffer financially?
Why do believers suffer bad marriages?
Why do believers suffer adverse circumstances?
Why do believers suffer constant bad
Why do believers struggle to fulfill
This book will answer the primary cause of these consequences.
However, we must also remember, that the only kind of suffering Scripture will
endorse, is the kind that we experience for living righteous and godly in Jesus Christ. And I refer to: “Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”
(Matthew 5:10). “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer
persecution” (2 Timothy 3:12). Unfortunately, most Christians are not suffering for this righteous cause, but instead,
they suffer unnecessarily from curses that they should be delivered from. Thus, our Lord unequivocally teaches us from His
Word how to be delivered from the cause and consequences of curses – and you will discover this throughout the book!
The apostle Paul gave the Church an insightful revelation
of what Jesus actually came to do for us, when he said, “Who was delivered for
our offences, and was raised again for our justification” (Romans 4:
25). In other words: “Christ Jesus suffered and died on the cross to redeem
us from the curse of the Law which was caused by transgression, but was resurrected
from hell and the grave to deliver us from the consequences
of that curse.
